The night passes uneventfully. Zim notices a flyer from the village at one point, who notices him in turn and waves between wing flaps before continuing to patrol. Kari marked the spot where the portion of the deer that the group is leaving behind has been placed. The village is likely to send out someone to retrieve the package tomorrow.
The next day, the group wakes up with the dawn and continues on their way. In the afternoon, as a light snow falls...
Perception check - Reia (14-): BriGIOXC3d6 (made by 9)
Perception check - Turing (12-): 3d6 (made by 5)
Perception check - Shiny Eyes (14-, 2 range levels): 3d6 (made by 5)
Perception check - Zim (13-): 3d6 (made by 2)
Perception check - Kari (unknown): 3d6
Perception check - Ecter (unknown): 3d6
Reia's keen ears perk up. Though there is nothing in sight, she hears the breathing of multiple small animals nearby, spread out around the group. Turing and Shiny Eyes spot a few signs of tracks nearby, for creatures roughly the size of small dogs. The snowfall and cool breeze mask these signs from the rest of the group.
Reia can choose to warn those who are receptive to her mind speech. Zim, Turing, and Shiny Eyes all had the opportunity to link with Reia in the morning, but Kari chose not to do so and Ecter cannot due to not having visible eyes.
There is a sudden movement, and multiple creatures with fur the color of snow are flying through the air at the group!3d6·3d6·3d6·3d6·3d6·3d6

He moves to Ecter but then points his gloves towards the incoming Wabbids and touches the heals of his hands together pointing it at as many of the Wabbids as he can inside the cone of light.

Both visible Wabbids are blinded, and noises hint at two of the invisible ones being blinded as well. Reia thinks there are a total of 5 creatures, 6 at the most.
Kari is already rolling out of the way when Zim moves to aim his gloves. She looks through the scope of her long gun right after the bright flash of light, and aims at an unremarkable area of snow. After pressing a button that causes a humming sound to come from her weapon, she fires.

Low Power [[OOC: With a roll of *3* on PS: Paramedic, I'm going to give an additional 1 BODY to the healing. Ecter was at -5 BODY (he started with 8 BODY), and is now at -2 BODY. Reia and Shiny Eye work together to finish off the last Wabbid. In the aftermath of the fight, you can hear Ecter's raspy breathing and see the blood sprayed across the snow.
Kari scans the area with her long gun, before putting it away. "If we take Ecter back to town, they'll take him in...but then he'll be exiled as soon as he heals up. We're already got the best healer in town with us, so I say we make a stretcher and carry Ecter for now. We need to put some distance between us and this place, in case the bodies draw more predators.

He looks to the rest, "Lets spread out and find the materials for a stretcher." Turning nods in agreement with the others, "You cut to the bone of it Zim. This is to show what we reckon as a group, not act like raiders." He begins stripping pine boughs for a stretcher. "I'm makin' the stretcher long enough to carry the extra meat we just paid for. If someone can skin em and gut em, we can pack em in ice. Some of these furs might make good barter once we are out of the mountains."

Shiny Eyes lands near his feathers protruding from the ground. A crunching noise can be heard as he pecks at them. After a few seconds the feathers are reduced to bits and consumed.
Looking at the corpses Shiny eyes comments," it is a shame to waste the tasty parts. Sharp claw Reia would you like a portion of guts too?"

Zim helps arrange Ecter for travel, properly binding wounds and stabilizing injuries. He makes certain that our extra long stretcher is loaded with Ecter at the top, near the person dragging it, so if he speaks he can still be heard. As the group gets ready to put some distance between them and the battle he says, "We should keep a keen eye on our rear, this stretcher will be marking our trail very clearly."

The group takes time for food and medical arrangements, and then continues onward with Ecter in a stretcher. Turing is the natural choice to carry the front as the group heads down the mountain path. Surprisingly, Kari takes the other half of the stretcher, to avoid leaving a trail in the snow. She looks over at Zim. "You can take a turn later, when I need a break."
The remainder of the day passes uneventfully, and the group takes extra time setting up their evening campsite, knowing that predators may be in the area.
[[OOC: Turing's 30 STR makes carrying the main load of the stretcher trivial. However, Kari's part of carrying is still work, and she will need to take breaks occasionally. Shiny Eyes has no problem scouting and finding a good area to camp for the night. Reia heals up the scratch she took within an hour or so, thanks to her Regeneration. For simplicity, we'll say that Zim can take an average roll every 6 hours to heal Ecter 2 BODY, so he'll be at 0 BODY in 6 hours (when the group camps for the night). Ecter will regain consciousness at that point, but still be very weak and require the stretcher for the following day. If nothing happens, Ecter will be back to full at the end of the following day.]]

As the group begins to head out the next day, Zim seems wary of the risks on the road and actively keeping watch for potential trouble.
During breaks he can be seen pulling out a small device, and looking / listening to it, though it is clearly not in the common tongue.

The group arranges to share the duties of carrying the stretcher, and makes surprisingly good time on their route. By the late afternoon, Ecter is strong enough to walk, thanks to Zim's healing gloves. There are no further signs of predators, and it looks like the group may reach Cassrock within the next two days.
Around the time the group starts looking for shelter for the evening, scouting by Reia and Shiny Eyes discovers a blood trail leading to a small cave. The trail appears to be a day or two old, and looks to be a single individual with a serious wound.
[[OOC: Going to assume the group investigates, to speed things up.]]
Propped up against the back of the small cave is a middle-aged man with a short beard whose side is covered in blood, wheezing as he breathes. He is wearing black robes dotted with white, the traditional garb of the Stargazers, a religious group that believes the tech of the Ancients to be responsible for the Apocalypse. He glances up, and his eyes immediately focus on Zim. "I know of you, Zim of the Blinding Light. Though I will pass soon, I must reject the temptation of your healing touch. I do not blame you for being seduced by the tech of the Ancients, but neither will I join you in your fall."
"I see that several of you carry tech of some sort. Despite this, I must speak with you before I pass from this world into God's embrace. My order is not what it once was. We are meant to be pilgrims of peace, but a group of men and woman have turned many of us to violence in God's name. Now, those of us who reject violence are mocked, driven away...or shot." He gestures to a crossbow bolt laying nearby, covered in blood. "My crime was to object to the executions of those who embrace the tech. We are meant to show them the true path...not cut them down without an opportunity for redemption. The greatest crime, however, has yet to occur."
"There is a child, a mute, who is held prisoner by the Bishop who has taken control of what remains of my Order in Cassrock. He claims the child to be responsible for restoring the tech that drew the attention of the Star of Heaven. I do not know the truth of the Bishop's claims, but the killing of a child is abhorrent. Even the Bishop's followers aren't ready to kill a child...yet. However, it is only a matter of time. I do not ask you to fight on behalf of my order. However, if you can save this child, it would be a good act...and we could all use more good in this world."
"The child has one family member...a woman near my age, half-crazed, but protective and caring. If you can rescue her as well, you will not have to worry about taking on the burden of care for the child. The two have been kept apart, but both are imprisoned within the Holy Inn north of the crater - a building marked with this symbol from the old days." He draws a stylized letter ('H') in the dirt. The man is kept on the ground floor with several others, while the child is on the top floor."
The man slumps slightly. "Ask your questions if you have any, while I still draw breath."

Turning takes a knee at the entrance to the cave, his frame to large to fit into the small opening. He listens but does not speak.
When the group is done talking, he sighs and finally speaks, "The plans of the Ancients were as terrible as there were grand. We few on this shore can make little of it. Like trying to grasp the morning fog before it flits away." He holds out his hand with a sad smile, "Your God is known to me. I am not his disciple but... I know of his good people." His smile brightens a bit, "You are His good people. Surely, His gaze is upon you as your draw near to Him. Come see the sky. Breathe the clean air away from this foul hollow. Let me carry your burden to Him, so you can see Him on the far shore."
[OOC: TO speed things up. If the man asks, Turing wills say, "I will help the helpless ones you speak of.]
