BACKGROUND/HISTORY | Deke, of the family Waid, is just over 20 summers old. He has undertaken the Road to Cargo three times, each time only turning in enough Cargo to allow him to stay in Fedrex an additional year. However, he has kept a piece of Cargo that would get him full citizenship - a floating sphere. It is called a "holodrone" in the language of the ancients, but those of the Stargazer cult call it a "death sphere" He has spent the last two winters learning everything he can about the sphere, and has learned a lot about ancient technology in the process. |
PERSONALITY | Deke believes Pures are natural leaders that will restore the world through harnessing the tech. He feels it is his duty to help the "unfortunates" who were changed by the apocalypse. This doesn't endear him to the Muts and Beasts of Fedrex, but despite his prejudices he is a handy person to have around. |
QUOTE | (in Post-Apocalyptic English) "Activate holo-targeting. Neutralize highlighted target." |
TACTICS | Deke is an accomplished blade fighter, and like most Pures is healthy and strong. However, he usually relies on the sphere in combat. He controls the sphere with two pieces of tech - a headpiece that goes over his right eye, and a ring that emits a tiny beam of red light. By pointing at a target and saying a word in the language of the ancients, he can order the sphere to fire a bolt of lightning. He can also use the sphere to illuminate enemies or create light in the immediate area The sphere also grants Deke an enhanced ability to sense the world around him. |
APPEARANCE | Height: 1.85 m | Weight: 100.00 kg | Hair: Blonde | Eyes: Blue | Deke is a tall, muscular Pure with blonde hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin. He wears scavenged leather clothing of the ancients (a biker jacket and baseball helmet), aloing with the eyepiece and ring he uses to control the sphere. |

BACKGROUND/HISTORY | Velvet is one of the Equistri, a species of mutated ponies slightly longer than an adult Pure is tall. She comes from the open Plains, but traveled west after being separated from her herd. Meeting up with a group from Fedrex on the Road to Cargo last fall, and was invited to return with them to the town and stay for the winter. |
PERSONALITY | Velvet is cheerful and optimistic to the point of being naive. She loves traveling and meeting new people, and the only reason she is going on the Road to Cargo is to have a place to stay during the winter months when traveling is dangerous. She loves to cook, and particularly enjoys making pastries of all sorts. |
QUOTE | "Friendship is universal!" |
TACTICS | All Equestri have telekinetic powers that allow them to manipulate objects, but Velvet is unusually talented and has learned to use her powers to shield herself from harm, or even (with major effort) carry her into the air. Like others of her species, she is unusually strong for her size and can deliver a devastating strike with her hooves. |
APPEARANCE | Height: 1.92 m | Weight: 200.00 kg | Hair: Violet | Eyes: Blue | Velvet is a violet pony with blue eyes. She wears saddlebags crafted to fit her form and be easily accessible by her telekinesis. |

BACKGROUND/HISTORY | Sprig is the runt of the litter in his family, who roam the Burning Lands. Few creatures can survive the invisible death in the Burning Lands, but Sprig's family thrive there. Sprig was the one chosen to interact with traders on the fringes, bartering for supplies in exchange for artifacts his family recovered from the ruins. Eventually, Sprig decided to travel north with a trade caravan to see what else the world had to offer. He discovered his size-changing mutation when the caravan was attacked, and since then has used it frequently to scare off potential attackers. His travels eventually brought him to Fedrex, where he was offered a place to stay during the harsh winter. Now he travels the Road of Cargo so he will have a refuge to return to each winter. |
PERSONALITY | Sprig's only interactions with people outside his family were to trade for goods. He's never had the opportunity for education or being part of a community, and is interested in both. This is why he went to Fedrex, and is now traveling the Road of Cargo. He appears slow of mind mainly because of inexperience, as he is still learning the ways of the world. He remembers being picked on for being small, and delights in turning the tables on those who think that he is easy prey. He doesn't like people making assumptions based on his appearance (creepy scavenger and skulker when little, hulking brute with no brains when embiggened). |
QUOTE | "Bye-bye" (followed by throwing the target far away from him) |
TACTICS | Sprig uses Growth in battle to become incredibly tall and strong (and easy to hit), with rock-hard skin that resists injury. He normally uses his war club, but is also fond of grabbing and throwing things - rocks, rusted ancient vehicles, people, etc. He is not a sophisticated fighter, but he occasionally shrinks back to his normal size and makes himself hard to hit. He has no fear of hot zones like the Burning Lands, being mostly immune to the radiation, and is even able to use it to heal. |
APPEARANCE | Height: 0.95 m | Weight: 48.00 kg | Hair: Black | Eyes: Red | Sprig is normally a small but muscled figure with grey skin, long black hair, and glowing red eyes. His only clothing is ancient baggy shorts that cover his midriff, and he carries a war club nearly twice his size. In battle he grows to his full height, quadrupling in size until he stands twice the height of an adult Pure, the war club more of a stick in his massive hands. His ancient shorts remain on him when grown, the mysterious garment expanding with his body ("AnyBod shorts are guaranteed to fit anyone, regardless of size!"). |
